Top Gun! Pistol Club one of the Best in the Country

The Coordinators of the Shooting – Pistol competition at the 2016 Alice Springs Masters Games have been competing in target pistol shooting at the highest levels for many years.

Stevan Strawbridge started shooting in 1990 and has gone on to be a member of the NT Pistol Team for 16 years competing at the National Championships.  Bill Low first arrived in Alice Springs in 1970 from Vancouver in Canada.  Bill spent about 30 years on the Australian national team and served as an International referee.

They don’t hesitate when they say that the Alice Springs Pistol Club has one of the best ranges in the country.  With a 25 metre, 50 metre and a Windback Air Pistol Range the competition has plenty of events on offer throughout the week of the Games.

The facilities are impeccable with a canteen and licensed bar.  Those travelling to Alice Springs from elsewhere can also camp onsite with all amenities available and fully equipped.

The Alice Springs Gun Club has produced fantastic international talent such as Christine Trefry who represented Australia at the Sydney Olympics and won gold at both the 1994 and 1998 Commonwealth Games in Air Pistol Pairs and Sport Pistol Singles and Pairs.

Pistol shooters have been coming to Alice Springs for years to compete at the Masters. Even the President of the Australia Pistol Shooting Association, Ray Andrews has only missed one Alice Springs Masters Games!
