Operations Volunteer Roles

Accreditation – Games Centre
A small number of computer savvy volunteers are required to assist at the Games Centre. All participants are registered online and time needs to be spent finalising registrations, completing reports and printing accreditation passes. This is necessary behind the scenes work that will ensure accurate processing of every person accredited with the event.

Functions
A small number of people are needed to assist with official Games Functions. If you have outstanding customer service, an eye for detail and can work efficiently, this is an area you will enjoy.

Games Administration
Assist in the office both prior to the Alice Springs Masters Games and during the event. Volunteers will complete mail outs, maintain databases and records, both on the computer and filing, answer the phone hotlines, assist in reception areas and various other tasks. Having a friendly manner and the ability to communicate with all stakeholders in the event will serve you well in a busy environment.

Information Booth – Games Centre
This important role will see you providing a variety of information to all sorts of people, from the general public, to Games participants and officials. Sound knowledge of Alice Springs and the Games along with a fun and friendly nature will support you, as will your ability to have a chat.

Opening Ceremony March
A number of volunteers are required in assisting Games participants to assemble for the Official March. We require confident volunteers to provide clear instructions in helping to sort and direct large groups of people.

Media – Games Centre
With a buzz of activity, both on and off the sports field, there is plenty of media interest in the Games. Administrative tasks include helping collect results, communications and liaising with Sports.
Volunteers are important to the functioning of the Media Centre. Some people will be required to go out and about to sporting venues looking for newsworthy stories. It would be an advantage if you could find your way around a computer, can use a digital camera, enjoy writing and compiling stories for a daily newspaper.

Labour Force
The Labour Force assists in setting up sporting and non-sporting venues before, during and after the Games. Some of the various duties include setting up signage and barriers all around Alice Springs. Some of the jobs include lifting heavy loads as well as driving cargo around to numerous locations.

Results – Games Centre
Results from all the 32 sports are sent to the Results Centre where they need to be carefully processed and uploaded onto the website. It is a behind the scenes area that is essential to the Games. People with an eye for detail, methodical organisation and sound computer skills are well suited to this area.

Transportation/Distribution
Located at the Games Centre, the Transportation and Distribution Volunteers carry out a number of important tasks. Transport requires drivers with relevant licences to drive buses, trucks, light commercial vehicles and cars. The Distribution Volunteers undertake deliveries, equipment relocation and include medal ceremony set up and take down. A strong knowledge of Alice Springs is a benefit to this area.
